Once again, we took a late day.
Can you blame us though? We'd been up until at least 3:00AM just trying to get back from the How to Talk to Girls at Parties afterparty. I will never get the image of Elle Fanning spanking JCM out of my mind.
It was wild.
But given that we started today fairly late, we decided to go to a lowkey movie before the large premiere of that night. We decided to see A Man of Integrity, a film about a goldfish farmer who becomes targeted by his local mob.
It was about as interesting as it sounds. Which is to say, I fell asleep. Sorry, but I was still in recovery.
Following this, we went to the Am Pav for some food, walked around, and I went down to the Marche to take a peek at some tables.
But then the premiere came, and I was exhausted. So instead of begging for tickets, executive decisions were made to wait at the Olympia for the off-the-red-carpet premiere. We don't need invitations for those, and it's great.
And what film were we seeing? Only the film I'd been waiting the entire festival for: The Killing of a Sacred Deer, by Yargos Lanthimos, the director of The Lobster and Dogtooth, two of my favorite films.
And yes, I loved Killing of a Sacred Deer. What can I say? It had the same awkward acting that I love about Lanthimos' films, and the story was spectacular. Add in a slight reference to classical mythology, and I'm sold.
Otherwise, today was a pretty calm day in terms of the festival. Steak N' Shake is honestly a blessing, as is the gelato place right across the street. Don't go to the Haagen-Dazs, it's too expensive.
